One of the key elements of creating a viral pdf is the sharing capability of it;
and the best way to go about this is to add sharing links in it.

And it’s actually a relatively simple process. All it takes is a few tedious steps and
you’ll have your social sharing links added in no time!
Adding A Twitter Share Link
The first thing you’ll want to do is decide on the verbiage you’ll want to use when someone decides to tweet out your pdf.
For example, with my publication, The Synergy of Business and Blogging, I wanted the reader to share “Reading ‘The Synergy of Business & Blogging: Top Techniques from 31 Bloggers’ | Free Download http://bit.ly/fUIyvh @newbizblogger, where in this case, the link led to the download page of the pdf.
But before we even get to the point, we have to go to Clicktotweet.com and insert the text with the link and generate a unique URL for that tweet.
Update: If you are having issues accessing clicktotweet via the link above, type the URL directly into the browser. There currently appears to be a malware issue when accessing the site via this link.
Update #2: Until ClicktoTweet resolves the malware issue, you can and the twitter share link manually. To do so simply use the following code:
http://twitter.com/home/?status=[enter text here divided by + sign]
For exampe, if I want to tweet out, Reading The Synergy of Business and Blogging http://bit./i1sAjq via @newbizblogger it would look like:
http://twitter.com/home/?status=Reading+The+Synergy+Of+Business+And+Blogging+http://bit.ly/i1sAjq+via+@newbizblogger
If you want to add hash tags, add the text %23
For example, Reading The Synergy of Business and Blogging http://bit./i1sAjq via @newbizblogger #blogging #business
now turns into
http://twitter.com/home/?status=Reading+The+Synergy+Of+Business+And+Blogging+http://bit.ly/i1sAjq+%23blogging+%23business
So now the above link get’s hyperlinked into your pdf.
Go ahead, test it out. Copy and paste the about text in your browser (and share it while you’re at it).

Note: In this tweet, I used bit.ly to shorten my URL to take up less space on the tweet. This also allowed me to track the stats of that tweet.
Once you’ve obtained that unique URL, you simply then have to use that link in your pdf.
Just highlight the ‘Twitter’ text and hyperlink it with the newly generated Clicktotweet link.

Done! Now when someone clicks on that link in your pdf, they are directed to
something like this:

Adding a Facebook Share Link
I’ve actually prepared a video on how to do this, so I won’t go into too much detail,
but the concept is the same.
I will add the link I want to share in Facebook share page, http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=<url> and then click on ‘share’.
In this example I am sharing a pdf I created for an article I created for CommentLuv.com called ‘The 3 Star Rating Traffic Generation Report‘. By the way, if you haven’t read it yet, please go over and check it out!
Once you click on ‘Share’, a unique URL will generated. This is the URL you will use in
your pdf.

Video Overview:
You can also create clickable social images in your pdf. If you want to learn more on
how to do that, I suggested heading over to DIY Blogger. Dino Dogan shares a
great video on how to do this.

Yeah, don’t know what’s up with Clicktotweet. Seems to be working OK in IE most of the time, but not if Firefox. In the meantime, I’ve updated my post to show people how to add the Twitter share link manually. Just as effective, just a tiny bit more work.
Thanks for stopping by.
