Late Night Interview With Triberr Founder Dino Dogan

It’s been a while coming but I’ve managed to kill two birds with one stone:

  1. Do my first ever video interview – woohoo!!
  2. Snag Dino Dogan from Triberr.com for this interview.

triberr.com

Interview Highlights:

  • Details about Triberr – covering how it came about, how to become a member, making  the most of your time on the site, what are bones and they work and the naked stats.
  • Creating the mindset to move forward with an idea/concept.
  • Expediting your success by collaborating with others.
  • Speed of implementation – “get it out there, get it out there yesterday and iterate”.

Note: As I said before, this is my first video interview.

Is it perfect? Not really; my editing is less to be desired that’s for sure!

Do I care? Of course I do.

Did it stop me? Absolutely not!

But growing your online business / blogging presence is about taking risks and putting yourself out there. And sometimes it’s not going to be perfect. As a matter of fact, sometimes it will downright ugly!

But it’s in taking the small steps that you begin to see results. So I have some homework for you… after you watch the interview of course! ;-)

The interview is 30 minutes long and divided up into three parts; so be sure to watch all three!

Part I – What is Triberr.com?

Part II – Mindset

Part II – Q & A and Small Talk

Homework:

  1. Choose a project you’ve been holding off on that makes you a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it’s creating a video, or finishing an ebook or creating a podcast.
  2. Add the desired completion day into your calendar. Make sure you give yourself enough time to complete it, but not enough that the project drags.
  3. Create a plan on all the steps you have to take to complete the project. For example, if it’s creating a podcast it may be: tools you’ll need to create it, write down topics to talk about, find out how to add it to your site, etc.
  4. Just do it!

I’ll leave you with two great quotes from Dino that I just loved:

Don’t think – Do!

Grow a set of balls! ;-)

And hey Dino, don’t think I forgot you didn’t answer the question: what is your biggest fear? ;-)   It’s all good!

Dino Dogan is the founder of http://triberr.com. His background is in music (as a singer/songwriter) and fitness (specifically as it pertains to Martial Arts), and he’s a biker who loves dogs. Most importantly, he’s a life-long student. You can follow him on twitter @dino_dogan.

  1. DiTesco says:

OK, I have seen part 1 and 2 already and in a nutshell, the main message that I got here from both you and Dino is that “having” an idea is good, but useless if you don’t put it in action. I am a true believer that it is better to fail and learn from it, than not knowing if your idea would be a success. As Dino said, do it yesterday.. and that might already be late, lol. Most startups started this way and look where they are now. Message delivered… And ohh, I also did not know about that pie chart. Will have to click on it :) and yeah, spend more time and explore Triberr to its fullest :)

As for the quality of the video, I think it is great. Maybe your audio quality can be improved slightly (Dino’s way good). That is the only “honest” observation I can give. It is difficult enough to do it, and just by doing it, already is a great achievement in my books, if you ask me :)

Later, will come back for part 3.

    • Michele says:

      Hi DiTesco,

Thanks for your honest review. ;-) I agree, my audio needs some upgrading. May work well for my tutorials, but falls short for video interviews for sure!

Thanks for taking the time to watch them and commenting. Your feedback is always like gold to me. :-)

  2. Michele, aloha. So excited to watch all of this. It will be my entertainment while I eat my lunch. Will comment further after I watch it.

Love that you killed two birds with one stone. Smart, you.

Also, appreciate the way the clips are broken up into three segments. Until later, aloha. Janet

  3. Michele, aloha. Congratulations! That was a terrific interview. Give yourself a big pat on the back.

Appreciated Dino’s comment about just because something similar is out there, does that mean we shouldn’t do it? Of course not because virtually everything that exists is the evolution or the next step of something else.

Also, unfortunately, Dino is right that we are “trained” to conform. While in caveman days that made sense because if you didn’t fit in or if you made trouble, you would be cast out of the tribe and perish, that’s no longer the situation.

Without going on a rant, the industrial revolution is largely responsible for our current state. Factories needed compliant workers so our system educated to be exactly that. Times have changed, however, most people have not.

Unless, that is, they follow the advice of Dino’s mentor and become misfits. In actuality, of course, misfits are the best because they take 100% responsibility for their lives. Okay, off my soapbox because this was more about Triberr.

Michele, if you didn’t do it immediately after the interview, go look at the Naked Stats. They are amazing. What I find is that overall the people with the lower number of followers, have more of their followers click the link.

Looking at my stats changed my way of thinking about who to invite into my tribe. Even though we know “bigger is not better,” nevertheless I fell into the trap of inviting people with big numbers. While in some cases the clicks are there, I find far more clicks percentage-wise with people with lower numbers of followers.

Thx so much you two for taking the time for this interview. Best wishes for a terrific weekend. Until next time, aloha. Janet

P.S. Michele, I do have to tell you I am a little concerned about something in this post. The twitter challenge was great; both rounds of tweetitforward were great and I fully supported those activities. However, Michele, are you going to have a “Grow a Set of Balls Challenge?”

    • Michele says:

OMG, that last sentence cracked me up Janet! My 4 year old kept asking me what I was laughing about and I had a hard time explaining to him why. ;-)

Where do I start? Such a wonderfully entertaining and witty comment… I’m not sure I can add to it.

Just want to say thanks for watching it, thanks for the continued support and thanks for always being awesome. :-)

  4. Dino Dogan says:

    Awesome job Michele :-)

It was a ton of fun speaking with you :-)

    • Michele says:

Thanks Dino! And thanks again for making my first video interview a wonderful and pleasant experience.

You are truly awesome. Much continued success. I have no doubt that you will reach for the stars and never look back. :-)

  5. Keri says:

    Michele,

Great to see your interview with Dino and promotion of Triberr! I too am a part, and think that Dino and Dan are doing a great job! :)

Very envious of your use of video — I shy away. So, as suggested above, I’m going to work on growing a pair. (har, har)

Niftiest Takeaway: Be A Misfit (Don’t fit in). Love it!

    Terrific job!

    ~Keri

    • Michele says:

      Hi Keri,

Thanks for the wonderful comment! Don’t worry, I had to grow a pair myself, lol. Although it wasn’t my first time on camera, it was my first live interview and I was a nervous wreck all day. It made it easier that I already had a relationship with Dino, but still does a mental number on you. ;-)

So go ahead… be a misfit. I would love to see what you create!

      Wonderful to meet you. :-)

  6. Adrienne says:

    Great interview with Dino Michele.

I’ve always enjoyed his truthfulness and how he doesn’t sugar coat anything. I think he and Dan have done a marvelous job with Triberr and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

I also 100% believe that if you have an idea then just go with it. In the blogging community you connect with so many different types of people and I have no doubt that you will run across the right person to do business with eventually. You may know of someone right now so all you have to do is just start a conversation. You just never know where it will take you.

Thanks for doing this interview Michele and I really enjoyed all three of your videos. Great job!

    Adrienne

    • Michele says:

Thanks Adrienne! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Still have to work out some technical stuff, but all in due time. ;-)

I hear what you are saying about connecting with people and never knowing where those relationships can lead. Like Dino, I was fortunate to connect with someone (DiTesco) that I was able to start a new site with (WordPressJunkies.net). It’s awesome how a simple friendship can lead to great things.

Thanks for stopping it. Always great to see your lovely face. :-)

  7. Hi Michele

Wonderful post you have here, I enjoyed reading it, listening to it, and watcing you. Of course Dino was the VIP there. Dino presnted himself with awesome confidence.

Michele, congrats for getting the firt interview from Dino and your firts video Interview.

    Keep up and be ahead.

    All the best

    Fran A

    • Michele says:

      Hi Fran,

Thanks for the kind words. I was very fortunate to interview someone I had already know and connected with; made the process 10x easier. Big ice breaker for sure. The great thing is that it’s all a learning experience. The more I do it, the better I will get at it; as most things in life. ;-)

Thanks for stopping in. Great hearing from you!

  8. Ileane says:

Hi Michele, you did an awesome job with the interview and it was smart to break it up into 3 parts. I’m not a fan of Triberr but I do enjoy watching it grow, so I follow it’s progress. Best wishes to your success with using it.

    • Michele says:

Thanks Ileane! Breaking up the video into three section was totally a last minute decision. ;-) Glad I did though, because I think I will try to continue that.

So out of curiosity, why are you not a fan of triberr?

  9. Great interview Michele, it’s nice to have the opportunity to peak inside Dino’s brain.

The naked stats feature sounds like an awesome tool to track click through rates on your tweets. It does also sound better then “No More Bullshit Stats”. :)

Look forward to your next video interview.

    John

    • Michele says:

Thanks John! I agree, always great to peak into the heads of those that have found success with something. There’s always a certain distinction you can learn.

By the way, don’t think I forgot you volunteered to be on the Entrepreneur Hot Seat. You may be next on my hit list. ;-)

    • Dino Dogan says:

I will argue, until the day I die, that No More Bullshit is a WAY better name than Naked Stats lol

  10. Kim Davies says:

    Hi, Michele.

What a great interview of Dino! I really love hearing the voices behind the faces of the people I am making friends with online. It gives me a sense of how they like to talk through the posts I read on their blogs. And, your video surely gave me an earful of Dino’s voice and yours to work with. :)

Now, to grow some balls and finish the novel I have been working on. :)

Thanks for a great read and listen! Enjoy the rest of your week.
    Kim :)

    • Michele says:

LOL, I love it! We all have to great some bigger balls. ;-) Good luck with your novel! Remember, if you get stuck just take baby steps; 15 minutes a day is better than nothing.

      Have a wonderful week.

  11. Hajra says:

    Hey,

I loved the concept of video interview..very interesting!

Also, I am new to Triberr and was still trying to figure my way about. This works like a charm! Wonderful “post”!

    • Michele says:

Thanks Hajra. They are actually a lot of fun. But like anything else, quite a bit of work to prepare. ;-)

Good luck with your time on Triberr!

  12. Congratulations! Your first video interview is great. It must be wonderful to have an opportunity to have a talk with Dino. I have planned to make my first video interview. I hope it would be as great as your video..;)

    • Michele says:

      Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the wonderful compliment! I’m sure yours will be great too. Don’t forget to give me a shout out when it’s up. Would love to see it. :-)

  13. A very interesting video interview. It looks like a lot of fun. I’m not really familiar of Tribber. Great job Michele, on doing that 3 videos. Best wishes to your success.
